Tube effect

Found a Behringer Magician T1950 for 179$.. it's a tube thing that sends the 8 inputs though tube amps so the sound will be nice'n smooth.. i'd really like a smooth sound for some of my pads, would this be neato or is it all about the reverb anyway?
and howabout the Tube Ultrafex T1954? could it perhaps add some depth to the sound??
 
NOPE! Not the "B" word (in this case!)....

...it's anything with the word "tube" on it priced under $2000.

it does seam rather cheap... but it's supposed to sound great according to reviews... but so was the virtualizer which did absolutely nothing really..
 
Brucie has a point.....more often than not, tube gear worth anything will cost alot of $$$$.....

I would say that in that price range or anywhere near, Art is a safe bet.....

I think you need to pin down specifically what you are trying to accomplish when you shop for gear....you cant just say, "I need something to make my tracks sound better"....you have to know what it is the tracks are lacking and what is needed to make it better.......what kind of signal chain are we talking about that you use now (mic,preamp,etc)....

sorry guys.. what i want is some softness to the sound..
1 : A new reverb cause the reverb on the Supernova isn't exactely the shit...
2: Something to make some of the digital sounds more "analogue" and i can't afford a tube amp or mixer..
 
Chris... if your 'digital' doesn't sound the way you want it, you either have bad converters, or you aren't capturing your sound source the way you intended. There is nothing inherently "cold" about digital recording.

You don't mention the rest of your gear, so I can't really suggest where you might be losing tone but there's no such thing as "cold digital".... there's bad converters, or bad recording technique but I assure you that you would not be able to hear a difference between a well-recorded digital track and a well-recorded analogue track.

As for reverbs - even a budget Lexicon gives you quite a bit bang for the buck.

yea.. i think i'll buy the MX500..

As for synths i only have a supernova.. the sound is terrific, but the reverb sux for clear sounds..
I've got a Behringer MX2641A mixer.. The supernova got superb converters..

The reverb is the main issue.. the tube effect is something i'd like for my basses and my pads.. it's just a little thing i got for anything analogue that makes me wanna go through tubes really. :)
