Hi

This is my first post, so if there is a better forum for this question, please let me know.

I'm operating a Tascam TSR-8 for tracking, and a computer for mix down in my home studio. The tascam has a serial out and i was wondering what options this would give me if i hooked it up to the computer? Also, how would i go about this? I imagine that i would need to download some type of driver, but where would i be able to find it?

Thanks

jack

The connection you refer to is called "Accessory 2" and it was designed to interface with synchronizers like the MTS-1000 and other compatible devices designed for locking up 2 open reel recorders with this specific connection which contains transport logic functions and has internal voltage control signals which are incompatible with direct computer interface and as such, no "drivers" exist because its not as simple as a driver issue.

Keep in mind, this deck was designed around 1990 and at that point, they weren't envisioning the current PC explosion.

Your best bet if you want to make use of your deck with your computer is to begin your session on the TSR-8 and then acquire an 8 channel sound card to do a direct transfer dump and then continue in whatever digital working environment you have there to complete your project.

Cheers! :)

thanks

thanks for that, i have a delta 10/10 soundcard and have that hooked up, i just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing out on any goodies the ol tascam had to offer.
