Hi everyone. OK, this is my first mix using all my new stuff! New monitors, new mac, logic pro, etc.. This is a cover of a turtles song, it's for an audition tape for the female singer. She wanted it to sound really psychadelic. I'm playing all the instruments except the drums and the arpeggiatted guitar about a minute in.

Yes, I know the time is a little shaky. I forced the drummer to play to a click. He wasn't used to it. It didn't turn out well. :(

Anyways, please let me know what you think of the mix!

Actually the psychadelic sounds kind of make up for the timing and it's not noticeable all that much. Sounds good though, good job!

In the relatively intensified parts of the song, she's tonally matched with a thick layer of rhythm instruments and those backing vocal tracks all at once creating an unintended boost. So, it could go different ways when experimenting with what bands to adjust on her vocals or instruments or all of it.

When I layer vocals (me being the only person I record), each vocal track is eq'd different. I don't know if that's conventional, but it sure does do the trick on my equipment. That's why I like doing that more than using delay or some other kind of doubler effect.
