Being the sound module addict I am, this one looks good. I am also interesting in the dance and trance expansion cards for this thing as I more then just enjoy that kind of music. Anyone own this thing, how many cards can it expand too? This is a sampler as well as a sound module, so it competes with what the yamaha a4000 a5000 or the motif rack? I am more the just use the stock sounds or edit them and make my own rather then go ass out and make samples.... but that is changing. Does this thing have fast scsi bus? This seems like a good sampler/sound module combo. Would it be better to get an emu ultra5000 or ultra6000 and then just get a emu unit as a sound module?
 
Well, this is a fantastic unit. Kind of like a chained down triton STUDIO - no keybed, no hardrive, old chipset, but same sound engine, all sounds from LE, Classics, and STUDIO are importable (damn that floppy disk though) and has 8 expansion slots.

As is the case with any sound module with built in sampling, you can only expect to use it as a sound module, and whatever benefits come from the sampler is an extra plus.

I think anyone considering a Triton purchase should heavily consider the Rack if they already have a computer and midi controller.

Yah, I guess I know what you mean about a synth and sampler combo.... my keyboard is like that and the sampler blows. Better to just get a seperate sampler I guess. So what is better EMU5000 or AKAI5000???
 
Well - Akai US distribution just went flushy flushy down the toily, so if you want service and support you better go with the Yamaha.

In my HUMBLEST of opinions, and I mean humblest, because it doesn't get much humbler than this, and I hope you can take it for what it's worth, I would recommend a good speedy 'puter, and some software for importing those samples.

Now - that's just me, but in the long run, you will thank yourself a thousand times.

Both are great ways to go - but there just seems to be a bit more power under the hood using a good speedy 'puter.

Now, of course, this is just my 2 pentz, and worth just that.
