ummmm i dont play drums....but i thought id voice my opinion... i hate blink 182...i always have...but i think travis does some cool stuff....i know i havent heard most of the drummers you guys are talking about...I think mike portnoy does cooler stuff than travis barker...but I'd pick John Bonham over any drummer on any day....as well as Zeppelin's songwriting over blink 182's songwriting anyday. I have a bunch of Zeppelin cds...and I have the Zeppelin DVD....some of those beats travis is using...Bonham created first. As a MUSICIAN and SONGWRITER...I rather listen to something that sounds cool rather than something that a drummer would be amazed by cause of its difficulty. I also think blink 182 was sucessful cause they were really the only band playing that kind of music at the time. During the popular times of Enema, people became fans for life...thats why they are still successful...they have dedicated fans. Aren't there any bands out there that you like that you fell in love with on a few cds...then they made a terrible cd...but you still went out and bought it anyways in hope that they would make another cd that kicks ass down the road? I know I have.

I don't think Travis Barker's drumming sells cds...I think their fans just go out and buy the albums because they can relate to the time when they fell in love with their music and hope it will happen again.

Overall, travis is a good drummer who is in a band that makes people happy...there are tons of drummers like that....everyone has their own opinion.

Keep on Rockin'

uuhmm, well... i don't play drums. i play the guitar. but i loove blink 182, boxcar racer, and transplants. mainly 'cause of mr. barker =) all you people like him 'cause he can do some crazy stuff with one pedal and stuff; well i have no idea what that means... but i loove travis, he's so hott <3 and i guess he's crazzy at the drums....but it's not really my area to talk in. and all you people talking some shit 'bout travis or the rest of blink; you need mental help...(or a pair of glasses-- haha)

holy shit, she's right. I mean I'd suck his dick, so I guess he's the best drummer in the universe

over rated - stupid drummer - will b in a wheel chair by the time he's 45 cos he sits stupidly low. Hes good but overrated. And i think to him its all about lookin cool. Why else have a kit like his and sit that low. Not a big fan - as you can see.

He's a great drummer for what he does. Is he one of the best? No. Is he overrated? Probably. For the genre of music Blink plays, he's above average. they can't all be Mike Portnoy.

Eric from NOFX uses a double-kick pedal...
No he doesn't. Check the questions section on the NOFX official site. He answers that question personally. I remember reading it back when I was a fan of them.

The Drum Gods!!

Travis Barker is pathetic compared to Tony Royster Jr., Neil Pert, Carter Beauford ( i guess thats how you spell it). and even if you wanna go mainstream hes nothing compared to Joey Jordison, Steve Asheim, and also Mudvaynes drummer aint bad ( aint sure on the name). and paul (from cannibal corpse) also killer. But what can i say im a metal head.

i noticed a few drummers left out..... michael mcdermott from the bouncing souls, josh freese from the vandals, tre cool from green day, and derek grant from the alkaline trio (and vandals fill in) are also stand outs amongst the punk drummers.

hes a good drummer but on the latest album i listend to was stupid on the last song because he overdubbed 3 different snare parts for the solo or more, i have to listen to it again.

Travis!!

Wanna know why T-ravis is one of the best drummers ever. On his tour this year he broke his foot and he reversed his set and played the shows anyway. Another reason is he's been playing since he was 4 years old. Try to go to a blink show and he will show you reason enough why hes such a good drummer! also listen to Dude ranch and then listen to enema of the state and see the difference between scott(blinks old drummer) and travis. He kicks everyones ass. But if you want to see an awesome drummer check out Mr. Thomas Lang at drummerworld.com Peace and I mean it!

I kinda like how Scott just supported the songs and played what was necessary instead of being a show off in every song like Travis.

Yeah that guy from Alkaline Trio is damn good. The first time I heard them was when I saw em play "All on Black" on Letterman. That drummer was really good without being overly complex, and it really impressed me. Bouncing Souls, meh, he's alright. Nothing about the drums on their records really popped out at me. Doesn't he use that really high, ringing snare drum sound? Just meh. I saw em live, and it was really unimpressive. Very boring stage show, though they sounded good. Vandals...don't know much about their drummer. Tre Cool, he's not bad. Seems to me he's more of a less-is-more kinda guy. Hell, that whole band is like that, and it works for them and their sound. Punk drummers are a weird bunch.

if your trying to tell me that his rotating flipping platform that be plays on aint one of the kewlest things youve ever seen. u better get your shit sorted.
Unless his platform does more than in that clip posted in the first page, I think this is cooler.... ;)

(I couldn't find a clip of just the drumsolo, so you'll have to skip to 3:00)

i hate double pedals

i hate double pedals! I had one for a while and i got pretty good, but it almost felt like cheating and after using it for a year or so my right foot wasn't as fast. I sold the double and got the single version instead and my right foot has been super fast ever since. Double pedals pale in comparison to having two bass drums anyways. I always felt lame doing things with a double pedal that i would rather work up to with a single pedal and a faster right foot. they are kind of cheating in a sense, but never as much as "the dualist". That piece of expensive plastic crap is the one of the most god awful things i've ever seen.

the double pedal is a godsent

i can only sing the praises of the double pedal, especially being a heavy metal drummer. why would you sell a perfectly good double pedal?? you did know that you can take the left foot off the left pedal right? :D Anyways its kinda unfair to label it as "cheating" and rather absurd. And it kinda burns my ass to think of self centered, self-righteous drummers that would label it as such.

I can see how using a double pedal can be cheating if you use it all the time for doubles and even triples just because it's easier then really playing then on a single but their's only so much a person can do with a single foot. Virg. and Lang are good examples of what is possiable with a double pedal.

he is better than average, but he is overratted. the music he plays lends itself for the sloppy dynamics he does. The great drummers, like Neil Peart and jazz drummers dont just gocrazy with dynamics, they make everything sound clean. Same with guitar. Jazz guitarists use no distortion, and make everything clean. Overrated rock guitarists like Kirk Hammet just play a scale with tremelo picking and tons of distortion.
I still like playing with lots of dynamics, but that doesnt take that much skilll.
