Track it right?

Do you mean mic it right?
Tracking to me means recording hot w/out clipping.
So my guess is when people on these forums say "track it right" what they mean is know your mics, position them in a way that represents the sound you want and record it hot.
My recording vocab is terrible.
 
Yes thats it..Try and use mic position before EQ.Record it as hot as resonable to get the best resolution and signal to noise as possilble.And plan your tracking if you can...example..Gonna have acus. guit, well this is going to be in a busy rock song..so lets see maybe a small diaphram at the neck for a more percussive sound to cut in the mix later ...ect. Kinda off what you asked but looking ahead in a project is the best way to track "right"
