Tough decision...

Ok I was not talking about the duo anything. I'm well aware that the newest processors that are dual core are outperforming older chips. I'm talking about older processors verses the other older processors. Thank you for explaining it to me. I didn't know a dual core pentium could out perform a g4........

anyone.....?

I would strongly recommend against any G4 system at this point. It's basically the very oldest family of machines that are still supported by things like iLife/GarageBand. I wouldn't put money on those odds. :D

The current Mac mini machines reportedly have removable CPUs, so you can buy a core solo and upgrade to a core duo later when you need more horsepower (or a core 2 duo or whatever). The single processor version starts at $679CA. It's just over half again more expensive than you're talking about spending for that 3-year-old (or older) G4 fosssil.

BTW, there has never been an 833 Mhz G4 machine, AFAIK. If that speed is correct, it's probably a graphite or something with a processor upgrade card. Not worth anywhere near 2/3rds the price of a new mini (which is probably at least a factor of 10 faster).
