From time to time I get the urge to get a new recording set up. But it's so expensive. I'm still using the Tascam US-1800, CakeyWalk by BandLab DAW, Akai MPK49 midi controller, Kemper Profiler & Carvin V3 +4x12 w/V30's, M-Audio BX8a studio monitors. I have a PC that's specked out, except for the video, stock. I've been using this setup for years with no real issues that I could remedy.
I have my space treated with the Prime Acoustic London set and some home made clouds over mix station.
I'm recording myself, song ideas, nothing too serious.
I use midi drums, record guitars/bass direct through the Kemper, I also use a 57 on a 4x12 cab.

Was toying with the idea of switching to Logic Pro, getting a Mac Mini and a Universal Audio Apollo x8, which would cost around 4K. I'm not that gung ho on spending that much dough.

I like my monitors, they work, I've had them a long time. Maybe upgrade?????? To what???? Looking at some Kali's nice 8's with a sub around 14 or 15 hundred. or just a sub for $600??? Will the sub make that much of a difference? I also use my system to listen to music.....which gets me to a Turntable.........

I would like to get a decent turntable for just listening to music, been purchasing some vinyl with no way to listen.

I'm not really a piano/keys player, but love to noodle around. Been looking at the Yamaha MX88.......

What to do, what to do.......

And to top it all off, there will probably be no #GearFest this year at Sweetwater.........

So if your bored, I'd love to hear your thoughts........

Thanks in advance.......

A 100 watts into a 4x12, dammm that's gotta be loud. :D

I love my UAD Apollo. That said, when you are buying into UAD, it doesn't stop at the interface. You have to buy their plug-ins. You'll get a handful of their generic plugs with the interface, but you'll have to buy the good stuff. Maybe you'll get vouchers or coupons with the Apollo.

I'd say stick with what you got. Maybe look at a few plugs or something. Get the turntable. Forget about switching to Mac, there is no real payoff for the money spent.

my two cents.
