How do you set up and arm an Audio track for recording in Cubase VST 5.0?

i don't have the getting started guide, or else I wouldn't be asking!

Thanks,

Tony

nobody here seems to know, tonester...I wonder why?--anyone care to explain it to him?...

No need to explain it to me; the sarcasm in your answer explained it all. just downloaded a demo of 5.0, and thought I could get some help.

i'll ask elsewhere

sorry man, I thought maybe you had a bandit copy...of course, for all I know, you do have a bandit copy...you mean your demo has no help at all?...

Yeah, the demos don't come with docs, that's for sure. Kind of a bummer way to sell a product.

And I have yet to see a cracked copy of VST 5.0- and I've looked. I have a legal version, but I'm a laptop guy and totally paranoid that I'll lose my hardware key.

Arming a track: In the arrange window there is a little box that says "mono" or "Stereo"- I think the arm button is right above it. You can right click on it too to select which hardware input to send to that track. The arm button can also be found as a tiny square above the LED meters on each track of the mixer. I think it is also found as the top button just above the fader in the mixer.

Its been a few months since I've played with Cubase, though, so I can't help too much more than that. I don't have it in front of me at the moment.

Good luck,
Chris

open CuBase...the Arrange window may open...clk on Panels and select a mixer...clk on the small arrow in the lower left corner of the Arrange window...(you can select a trk to record here)...clk on Enable--this "should" enable the 1st track for recording...play something quiet and observe/listen to the mixer (1st trk level meter) to see if CuBase is receiving input...if you don't see/hear input, clk on the Enable button again to disarm the trk and the clk on Options, Audio Setup, System and dive in head first--here you can select/enable your ASIO device, amongst a multitude of other important thingamajigs...it "can" a very tedious chore to adjust these settings to values that will work well with your particular pc...I don't know exactly how much is included in the demo, but you may have to spend some time here...try to find someone familiar with CuBase to sit down and help you out.

Thnks for the tips. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, but I really acquired my version legally.I probably should have stated that right off the bat to avoid any confusion.
I obtained my version from the disc that accompanies Computer Music. In case anyone hasn't heard of this magazine and it's sister publication, Future Music, they are from the UK, and they rule! Each issue comes with a CDRom of demo software, samples, and audio demos of equipment
Unfortunately it's a little pricey (13.95), and isn't always available. but you can subscribe.

I may ask for a few more tips in the future. I may have to buy this beast, because my version won't let me save.
