Too much case noise

You don't get the idea then. Sorry to be blunt but as i said, sound is carried through air and solid objects etc.

What you hear is primarily carried through air.

To sound proof your case is to at least dramatically restrict the airflow. This will lead to overheating.

You could of course soundproof a much larger enclosure around the computer, but for it to be effective you're talking about the size of a room, and if you had a spare room there wouldn't be a problem.

Other than what's listed (bigger, slower fans, water cooling, dense absorption panels) there isn't a whole lot you can do.

You may not be interested in this, but I used to run my q9550 at 3.4ghz thinking i needed all that power.

It ended up being far too noisy and I didn't need the power, so now I actually underclock it. I run it at 2.4ghz with the fans down very low.
It's still noisier than I'd like but it's much better.

I replaced the case fans and psu fans with 'silent' fans, and upgrade to a bigger cooler on the cpu.

Perhaps you could have a separate boot profile for audio?

No I do get what you mean. I'm talking a different type of project like a sound booth for my case for only when I'm recording. Or maybe even just a sound booth for when I do vocals, after all a lot of people use sound booths. I understand what you mean by minimizing sound but I'm talking something that will minimize the sound when I'm not gaming. I don't care too much about airflow during my recording times because it will stay relatively cool without much airflow (after all i wont be running my giant graphics card during this time period lol) I also considered making a fiberglass enclosure for the computer that would be used strictly during recording. I'm just looking for techniques you guys may suggest: cheap enough and that has to do with isolating during a set period of time (maybe a portable soundbooth like i started a post about a few minutes ago)

But what I'm getting at is when I block the sound from the computer it will be temporary: ONLY during when I record then remove whatever I am using as soundproofing.

I'm not getting this. I record 4 feet away from my Fostex D1624 and it's loud as hell.
I'm just a folky, Bob.
Me and my tenor guitar.
The quiet whine of the hard drive in the Korg D3200 comes through like a church bell.
Flashcards are noiseless though.
Regardless, looks like the OP is determined to forge ahead.
