Thanx alot Seeker...Yeah, those are real drums...man, does it really sound that compressed? Everything or just some particular instruments? I don't really compress much of anything...maybe the snare...I put the mix through the L1, but I only get it to cut about 3db tops...The tune averages -12...I'll have to re-listen and see...Thanx

It sounds like comp all around. Cymbals are one of the first give-aways. Guitars, bass, and vocs as well, not just drums. The song is awesome, don't get me wrong, mix is GREAT, but to my ears it is definitely compressed.

Wish I could play drums as well as you  :(

Thanx alot...I'm going to put it back into Wavelab and see how much it's actually compressing. This is the kind of feedback I need, I have shitty ears, and tend to use my eyes way too much. Thanx.

Dave....I don't know how I missed your post....How are you buddy??? Great to see you here man. This place is awesome, I've learned more here in a few months than in the 5 years prior. Great to see you brother.

I listened to this at low volume first - a good way to check out a mix I think. Everything is VERY evenly mixed and clear even at low volumes. The compression seems ok to my ears (IMHO). Rather than squished it seems to have glued everything together. The eveness of the mix is the foundation to the good results.

Some points as I listened ....

Nice distortion on guitars.
Guitar Panning is good - blends but with just enough separation.
Like the riff you use throughout.
Punchy bass guitar/bass drum (really drives this along well)
Nice echo/effect on vocals.
Great harmonies - like Tim said perfectly in tune.
Sweet guitar solo - sweet :)
Nice high note vocals at the end - pushing it really works for your voice.
Oh yeah, drums were ok .... ok.... well awesome (lol).

This is my favorite one of your tunes so far.

WOW! Man, thanx alot IDO. SHit man, you guys make me feel good, i was insecure about this tune because even though I listen to all kinds of heavy rock, I tend to write more funky and less heavy. SO I didn't know if this sounded natural or not.
Having said that, if Seeker said that it sounded squashed to him, there must be a reson. Doesn't mean he's right and everyone else is wrong, but there must be a reason he picked that out. So I definitely will take his comments into consideration.
Thnax alot, IDO for that breakdown, I'm glad you liked the tune. :)

I really like the drum sound a lot, it's smooth and linear. Mixwise (and I can't believe I'm saying this), it could use a little more guitar, mostly the one on the left. And the EQ on the vox seems a tad thin, but I can't trust my ears completely right now, as I'm sick as a dog. (As a SnakeDog? As a Dogman? :) )

You write the catchiest damned material, man. Great tune. MHIO™ lives!!

Thanx Llarry (hehe)...I really like this micing technique I used. Most of my snare is coming from my overheads, as opposed to the snare mic, and I love the seperation it gave me. I don't think the eq is thin on the voice, i think it's my voice that's thin on the eq...LOL!!!

Hope you're feeling better, buddy.

Just thought you might want to see that all your ears are calibrated and certified. :D

Nice work, Rami. I'm not sure where the first riff fits in musically with the rest of the song. I like it, it's got an interstate love song thing going on, but it just seems to be hanging off the side a bit. It's not that it dosen't work, it's that maybe it wanted to be it's own song. I dunno.

Great drums, and really really nice vocal delivery. I think your harmonies came out strong and were really effective. Things seem to be getting more complex and adventurous as we go along here. :) You have a great pocket feel that's really steady. Thanks.

Thanx alot for that, Super. I do have to change that riff. I do like the idea of an intro and break that has nothing to really do with the rest of the tune, or else I find the tune will just suffer from the same thing "Sweet Emotions" does, monotony.
But I have to change that riff. I knew it was similar to "Interstate Love Song", but didn't go back and listen to "Interstate" and I should have. For some reason, in my head, I didn't think it was THAT similar. But I went back and listened to it and my riff is WAY too similar. Funny, I didn't remember "Interstate" quite sounding like that. I'll have to come up with something else. Thanx alot. Looking forward to hearing more of your stuff more often. :)

To me this sounds real good, classic rock styling. Only thing to me the drums sound like there to up front, they sound good don't get me wrong. The rest of the sound is more distant. The drums are up front. Like they were played in different places. If that makes any sense. It sounds real good though. Just my two cent observation on how I think it still might improve.

Thanx Passing, I just re-mixed it. You're not the first to mention that the snare is a little dull, so I re-eq'd the drums. Also, I took come compression off the snare and overheads. Thanx alot, that's why I post my tunes before I know they're "finished", to get this kind of insight.
I also changed the "Intersate Love Song" riff. I can't believe how close it was. I really wouldn't do something like that deliberately, so I'm glad enough people mentioned the similarity to make me go listen to it. I had no choice but to change it. The newer version is up now.
Thanx guys.
