*The Travel Song -
a track written around a sony Acid drum loop drum track.
kind of a king's x vibe.
the thing about this one is..... and the reason it comes off as a bit smoother than some of the other material, is...... it's a Waltz!
LOL... well, actually, 6/8 time. but i feel it like a waltz when i play it.
the story behind the lyric.....

i wrote this, right after finding out about a real hard time my two friends were having on their 'cross-europe' bike trip....
at Gatwick airport.
this is about these guys having one of their 2 bikes trashed by the airlines,
and then running into some friends later down the road, that showed up and helped out. they finished their trip in grand style!

this is all me, solo effort.
and i agree, with a full band line up, it could be a barn burner.
as long as the harmonies are all there, you could take it in a few different directions, i think.

it sounds like a jam/demo - it’s got good bones - perhaps a little to busy on the guitars - but I Iike it - got some CSN&Y to it - and Some progressive 80s elements to my ears.

yea, even tho this is the finished one, i like the loose nature...
i really don't like stuff that is so polished it's over produced... i've always liked the songs that kind of live on the edge of sophistication and primitive rock feel.

to compare, here is my original demo, which has a couple of acoustic guitars, but just one rhythm guitar, which was a first take.

seriously, i'm glad you like the demo,
it had a lot of pure energy in it, cuz i really didn't know what i was going to play,
until i played it.
so it's got an edgy quality.
i just think most people don't even hear the difference between the one i spent hours crafting,
and the one that i just threw down in 4 minutes.

LOL again...
just us musicians give a caught carp about that stuff.


maybe there is a lesson for me in there...

no, i haven't updated any of 'time is magic', i've been working on a new album i'm almost finished with, that i'll post to Bandcamp soon...

and then i've got 5 songs finished for the NEXT album! LOL
but it's slow going right now, wifey is trying to bounce back from breast cancer and it's not been easy, and no 'play' time.

LOVE the time signature! Nothing is "wrong" w/ the mix. I'd probably have mixed the vocals more forward - but that's MY style. It sounds like it was mixed by a guitarist.

Not a crit - an "observation".

Great texturing in this - keeps the listener engaged.

I REALLY want those vocals more out front though - in ebb and flow w/ the rest of the great layering.
