Very cool!!! You are the first person I know of to write a song about me!! Thanks! :)

Neat song, Joro! I think it's really nice you did that for ol' Riley and C7...

The kick is a bit boomy, but it may just be my work speakers (sub, hehe). I'd definitely lower the level relative to the mix, or raise the bass line level (depending on how heavy you want the "bottom" of this particular song).

I love the harmonies! I think the song would sound more intimate if you dropped the vocals an octave and "Elvis'ed" them a little. Just a bit. Depends on the range of vox, I suppose...

If that's a real kit I'll eat my shoe. Great arrangement of the beat, it sounds really good (that KICK is still shaking my brain though). What "set" is it?

The lead begs for a bit of 'verb, maybe boost the lower side of the tone there... In WinAmp, it sounds good with +18dB at 310Hz, but that's with the rest of the mix...

Is that a real 12 string? If not, do tell what you used there!

Overall, most of the "fixits" would come from turning down the kick and singing an octave lower. My 2 cents...

I think this is a really nice sentiment for ol' C7. Heck yeah, Joro!

Cool

Hey Riley,
Cool,
Glad ya like it...
Sorta my first "Pop" kinda tune....
Best wishes to the two of you.

Ya know...I should thank you guys for the inspiration...
Not that I am happy about your particular situation...
but...ya know what I mean....

Hey Kelly,
I hope that you have a taste for leather...
It is indeed a true blue kit...

The rhythmn guitar is 2 tracks of a vintage Martin...not a twelve string...

The vox including all of the harmonies are done by my pal Willie in Connecticut...he also plays the Martin and the lead tracks...
The bass is another Martin acoustic track with heavy EQ
so...yup, no real bass on this one..

My buddy Joeyd laid down the drums in Louisiana....
He also sent the mix through his mastering equipment.. (I have to ask him what he uses but, he has a full blown analog studio.)

The way we work it most of the time is all on-line...

Believe it or not...
It started with an MP3 at 96kbps from Willie...guitar and vox...
I converted it to .WAV then back to .MP3 at 128 kbps, then I uploaded to FTP and JoeyD downloaded...burned a disk at home...took it to his studio...laid down his tracks and mastered it...then sent it back to me as a new MP3 at 128kbps.

You are right though...it could have definitely had been better.
I am the poser on this one....the lyricist...but, I will definitely pass on your good advice and suggestions to my Bros....
Thanks,
Joe

Joro.
Great song.
I don't have everything set up yet in my studio so I can only listen with cans but it sounded great.
Guitars sounded nice. I could feel some of the singers emotions, and the melody was captivating. It's still ringing in my head.
You guys did a good job.

Yowsa!

I'm glad you posted this, Joro. I've been wanting to hear how those lyrics ended up wrapped.

I've been recording all night so my ears a bit fried...but...

Listening in the cans...too late to rouse the neighbors...

I think what I'd like to hear is more dynamics in the rythm guitars. Played a bit punchier, or ajdust the compressor on 'em to let more attack through?

D@mn, those backing vocals are cool. Smashing vocal mix.

I can't nail it down, but everything except the vocals sounds like its been compressed or something. I'm not sure if the vox are just more up front or if they just sound a little more natural.

Jeez, I've got to get back to my song to get those catchy harmonies out of my head! :) It cool hearing how you collaborated on the tune. Ain't technology sumthin'?

G'night, all.
Chris

It amazes me how you could do all that online and from different parts of the country. And in relatively short amount of time! Way too much for me!:)

I better just stick to the cave!

I thought it was a cool melody.

Nice harmonies as well. It seems as there is a lack of clarity overall, or maybe you just got a really great balance.

Anyhow, good song

Cool

I am glad everyone liked the song...
Collaborating on-line seems easier than getting people all together in the same studio...
You can do things at your own pace....ya know?

Thanks everyone for the great advice...
I will pass it on to my Bros....
Peace,
Joe

I haven't done any collaboration yet Joro, but it seems to me that the particapents would be much more relaxed in their own invirement, with out feeling the pressure of the engineer.
I know I would.
Good stuff.
