So I've listened to this thing over and over, and I'm trying to put my finger on just what I think of this song.

The only thing that keep coming to my head is "It doesn't suck."

My music isn't normally what you'd call "electronic" sounding. I get much more in to accoustic guitars and lots of harmony vocals like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. This tune is just an inspiraton I once had a number of years ago, with two exceptional musicians helping me out with it. Interesting thing is that this particular tune, as I heard it and recorded it, is VERY ELECTRIC sounding. And by electric I mean trance meats industrial meets whatever.

Very uncharacteristic of my writing, but here it is anyway: Scroll down a ways and look for "This Time" . . . it doesn't suck.

By the way, if you use Windows Media Player, and you have that cool display thing like mine has . . . select "Windmill" embience. They kinda' go together.

It doesnt suck.:-)Sounds kinda like Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons.

Yeah it doesn't suck! It sounds like a nice clean recording. Kind of relaxing.

lol. I don't know if that's good or bad! This is definitely a first for me - being compared to Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons. Any more such comparisons and I'm going to have to start dedicating much more time to my day job.

:)

it definitely doesn't suck...santanaish. eat a hamburger with relatives in the backyard, hot outside, white hawaiian shirts with palm trees type feel. great sound, very clean track and mix job. i usually get turned off by hand drums, but i could tolerate it in your cut. excellent bass and kick blend. 8.5 out of 10 for mixing,
7 for creativity. good job.

middleman..

very nice chess..
one thing that kinda bugged me was the acoustic gtr being so rhytmic, and off to the side a tad. but...just a personal preference. Nice gtr licks towards the beginning....there should be more. The other tiny item is that the pno is tasty in the beginning...but the following "licks" are nowhere in the same ballpark. The mix also has a "strained" feeling to it...kinda compressed out...minimum dynamics. ...partially because of the drum sound, I suppose. Very creative, musically however...the songs strong point, imo.
great stuff>>>.I'd take a Cd of this stuff for bedtime listening. I could do without the buzzy fadeout too.

Yea, I've heard your stuff before. I think you may have posted a link to it once or twice. :) It's good stuff, and like I said, I'm not normall a big fan of electronic music, but your's is rather intoxicating. Kinda' makes me want to do some eX and turn on the strobe light. :) Thanks for the comments.

Yeah- it doesn't suck, but it suffers from that too much cut and paste in MIDI syndrome feeling. I should know, having produced skads of such afflicted tunes.

Sounds like the drums sounds were recorded too hot.

320 was cool for me, but hard on a lot of 56K users.

Nice blending of those guitar tracks. That kept this alive.

I like the bass sound. Hell, I like the sound of the whole thing. Gimme vocals.

Nice song. I agree with some previous comments about it sounding compressed. I would have liked a few more of those leads, since there are no vocals. Nice tune though, I liked it.

later

btw - nasty buzz on fade out

ey!.. sounds really good, tho I'm allergic to that 80ies lead guitar.. ;) Good beat. I'd really like to hear some vox on this..

Can't say much about this, except that it's very well recorded and performed...

Good job, chess.
