AS YOU CAN TELL BY ALL THE CAPS I AM USING!!! AND THE EXCLAIMATION POINTS!!!

Anyway, this one is just a mix in progress. Only spent about 2 hours on it so far, so it is far from done. Have a lot of cleaning up to do on it.

Anyway, another Love Lode tune. A little more on the "rockin" side. A little punky and edgy. Not for the faint of heart.

Also, their is that thread going on in Dragons Cave about the top 100 guitar players. Take a listen to this guy. I have not posted anything by Love Lode yet that has displayed the enormous talent of their lead guitar player. His name is Robert Robinson. He also sings the tune. Anyway, he recieved a Fender endorsement back in like '92 or so. Shrapnel Records is still trying to sign him, although they are kind of on the outs really. This guy has just about every trick in the book down. I would definately put him in my top 100 guitar players, but then again, I have heard him play and develope over the last 11 years. I am here to tell you, he can play anything, and play it with skill, conviction, style, and taste. He's an alright guy too..... :)

Enjoy.

WOW!WOW! He's got my vote! What kind of rig is he playing thru sonusman, guitar, amp, etc.? Damm I need a beer now.

A Fernandez guitar through a Tube Screamer to a JCM 900 with Musiclord 4X12 box. SM-57 to a ART right to tape.

Great player though huh?? :)

Oh yea this guys a great player, very fast and very very tastefull with his playing.

Great Mix and talent! How do you get that much Fullness and seperation of the guitar(s) in this mix. Great seperation and seemed to have had very little FX added. Did all FX and tone come straight to tape or had you added some during mixdown? The dude can play and damn, you can mix!

Let's see, where to start.

First, the guitar that we used for rythem is a G&L S500. This guitar is very special, and it has been used by just about every client that comes in that needs a single coil sound. We ran it to a JCM 900 with the 1960 cabinet. SM-57 back almost a foot from the speaker but on the cone angled in towards the center a bit running to of course a ART Tube MP. The amp settings where pretty interesting. Preamp gain down to like 7, hi and mids all the way up, and the bass down to like 6 or 7. We had the master up at 9!!! That was the ballsy sound.

Just a hint of reverb at mix. There is way too much going on in this song to be cluttering it up with effects, except for the vocal, which I thought the delay was a nice little touch. A little chorus on the backups and lead, but I had maybe a bit too much depth as it made the vocals kind of come in and out. But hey, I only spent like 2 hours on the mix, didn't really have much time to work out the little stuff.

Robert is really a fabulous guitar player. Mike Varney at Shrapnel Records still calls him to try and convince him that he should do a metal album with lots of solos. Robert, to his credit, want's to be a little more song oriented though. Maybe with the recent breakup of Love Lode, he may jump on doing something with Shrapnel. If more people only heard this guy! I am not easily impressed, especially with guitar players! But Robert has always blown my socks off.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
