For your singing to help your friend, it should/would need to be at the same caliber or better than his playing.
His playing is quite good.
You're off tempo in a lot of spots...plus your vocal stylizing isn't doing the song justice.
You're trying to sing it like a black woman, which you are not.
Maybe if you sang it as yourself, on tempo...it might be better....?
