I don't know if anyone has heard their new record, but if you haven't, check it out. Here's a link to an article off their website concerning some of the gear used to record their new record. They built a studio in their home country of iceland and had to rip the roof off and get a crane to bring the mixer in because of its size. Some other gear mentioned includes: octave SD condensers for OH, U47, AMS reverbs, mackie soundscape DAW system, joe meek.

Check it out.

A good article about a fantastic group....

...although I can feel the misinformation spreading already..."hey, did you know that sigur ros recorded their whole album on a PC DAW???" ... neglecting to mention of course the neve console ;)

Great group. Great record. Probably the first thing I heard done on Soundscape and I didn't even realize it.

In a situation like that, how would they have utilized the neve board. I'm doing everything on the computer, my cds even get burned there. So if they recorded everything to hard drive, i imagine they sent everything out into the neve board, then where would it have gone, to an outboard cd deck? or back through the soundscape system to later be mastered.

Yeah, that's what I gathered. For the most part I guess they would have used the computer as nothing but a souped up hard disk recorder...actual mixing was done the old fashioned way.

basically like someone using a Radar 24 with a neve or, even a ghost board..or whatever.

hell, i do the same with my aardvark q10 and soundcraft m12. heh. limited mixing channels..but, it's fun :)

after reading the article...my resounding thought is this:

are capital letters being taken out of english grammar?
