Kedman, where would -6 be in relation to the color scheme (not home right now)? And which version are you using?

Hey, Cellar.

If you didn't overload recording in your MR8 your tracks won't be overloaded in ntracks. So don't worry 'bout it.

The reason commercial CDs peg the meters near 0dB is because they're trying to sound the loudest on the radio. It's a shame really. Here they have 40dB more dynamic range than vinyl and the way they squish everything they could get by with 20dB less. They are limited to the same 0dB the rest of us are.

I'm more prone to "under-loading" on the MR8, because it's so hard to monitor during actual recording (for me anyway), but I keep it as hot as possible.

Given this, when I'm (attempting) mixing in N, how hot do I want the idividual tracks, and how hot do I want the master channel???

It don't matter as long as you don't overload!

There should be a peak hold number on each track and the master mix. (My Cubasis has it, anyway). An imported track will not have any overloads in it. Add some EQ and turn it up and it may overload. Turn down the level on that track so it doesn't.

There will probably be one track that needs to be the loudest and the rest will fill in. The master track shouldn't overload, so if it peaks at -0.1 your fine.

Sorry about the bold print, I didn't want the question to get lost in the shuffle :o

I'm unable to formulate the next question right now, because of the amount of cold medicine running through me right now...so.. Thanks!!! :D

Hopefully I feel human enough tonight to get back at it...
