Lol for real. Okay then, if you say so. Sure thing.

Sorry about your thread, Ray.

I used to enjoy seeing the # plays statistics of Soundclick. Now I realize (way too late) that the 128MP3 or whatever they stream is absolutely sonically inferior (to any thing resembling quality). I will still post a streaming Soundclick link for convenience but I will also try to provide a downloadable 320MP3 (or .wav) wherever possible. I can see why the sttic issue came up - it's created by the Sounclick Stream...

Showstone,
Yeah, there's a Bowie baritone (Bowitone?) in the vocal - & that's a good thing. It's also a stylistic change for the vocalist. Thanks for the generous appraisal.
Whitestrat,
Cheers mate! I'm glad things don't sound cluttered because there are nigh on 30 tracks in the mix. Thanks for the kind words. The Drums are poifuct!
Greg,
Thanks mate. You did a terrific job on this track both thumping the tubs & "mastering". So much so that I could say mastering without the ""!
Ido,
I had to use a 256 MP3 to start with as SC won't take anything over 10meg. The streamer is a screamer which is one of the reasons I've used file hosting sites rather a lot lately AND, celebrating the (very) temporary improvement in bandwidth, I've been posting wav. files for the joy of better sonics.
I would enjoy, at some stage in my life & before the technology passes me by, the chance to hear a song of mine on vinyl! Ah, such dreams. Thanks for your superb constribution Gerry!

Wow... I really enjoyed this one. Listened on my KRK 8's, and ... wow.. The kick sounds so full, rich, defined, and punchy without being in your face. The guitar solo, in my opinion, needs to come up just a hair. I wanna hear the intricacies of the instrument, especially when it's being played so well - just a bit buried. Other than that, I really, really enjoyed this mix. Solid performance all the way around. (loved the outro, too)

Thanks PI,
Which of the 2 solos needs a bump?
The drum capture was excellently done & quite some time was taken getting the whole kits levels right before fully integrating it into the song.
Glad you like the track & the outro - a bit longwinded for some but for mr it suited the narrative.

yes very polished, better than my mastered version....near finished now :)

and an lol at the thread going tits up :D

Wow cool song Ray! Totally Bowie vibe...I love it! Agree with earlier post about the drums...sound fantastic! I think this is my favorite by you! Well done....

Thanks PI,
Which of the 2 solos needs a bump?

The one that starts approximately @ 3:18. Just seems like the drums are higher than the solo, making it seem a bit buried. I wanna hear it sing, baby!

Very fine song Ray, and the Bowie vibe makes it that much better, reminds me of the 'Station to Station' era. I really like it fine just as it is-I've been a big Bowie fan for years.

kcearl,
Hmm the thread was in dread for a while BUT things came good. Thanks for your generosity. ALMOST done! Some things never get finsihed - I have to learn the lesson called DONE!
queepy,
Why thank you sir! It was just another faux psych drone until Greg, then Gerry then Joe made it something else entirely.
PI,
Gerry is having a listen & will get back to me re the levels. Thanks mate!
Anfotan,
The return of the Thin White Joe! I saw that tour (stage) in '78 - well, I can't honestly say I saw it - I was there but way to short to see the stage! With the original mix my brain locked on Heroes because of Joe's superb rendering of the lyric & the way the vocal melody (Joe's again) stood out. Thanks for your kind comments.

It defenitly sounds better this time around.
the bass is locking better with the drums.
It does however sound we bit heavy on the highs for me, generally speaking.
Perhaps lowering them a bit and adding some lower mids would be an option, dont get me wrong it sounds good and theres lots of space in the mix.
But perhaps to much, if thats possible :D

G'day Nak.
I'll get the ears to have a listen with your comments in mind. Thanks.
How was the busy season? Have you finished recording/mixing? Have you managed to line up the same ME?

Hey Ray...just gave this version a spin. Overall it sounds great and is I think an improvement. I did find the highs in general to be boosted a bit too much and might have gone for a warmer tone with the overall eq, but this is just relative to what I'm used to hearing in the clinic on bookshelf speakers hooked up to a laptop, so not an ideal listening set up by any means.

Good performances by all. The guitar solos sit a lot better now.

Dude, I was looking through my older files and saw this one from like June, the name of it was Psychthing, and I'll have to say that this has really come a long way. The song is cool as hell and y'all did a great job on it. I look forward to many great songs from you to come.

P.S. I took a copy for myself if you don't mind. Great stuff.

Later.

Trump,
Yes, it'd hovered in various states of undress for quite some time. The creativity of Joe, Gerry & Greg lifted this one out of the empty wardrobe where it had languished with no solo, drums & melody/vocals.
Brand new clothes now now!
You TOOK a copy!?!
I'm mighty pleased and proud you did!

Busy season was mad :D, did not get to do a whole lot of recording, did some live sound on a few occasions.
But I'm back on it now, Looks like we'll be using the same ME :)

cheers mate.
