Hey,
Ive been dying to get one of the old ( or new)keyboards that look like guitars and you hold like guitars. I heard Roland still makes one, and i have seen Ben Folds playing one live.. However, i totally forget the model on any of them... can someone start me off with some info on the awesome things so i can try to hunt one down?

any body else make these?

a - does anyone else make these? or is that relaly the only one on the market...?

b - what are those things actually called...that is - to find one on ebay, etc.?

thanks

The old Roland SH-101 was an analog synth that had a "mod grip" attachment that let you play it like a guitar. you can find them on ebay etc. I seem to remember that Jan Hammer used to play a Kawai guitar-synth thing, buit i've never run across one.

I've most often heard them referred to as "keytars," but to find them on ebay you typically have to search for "keyboard guitar." I actually want one too, but have been acquiring other more important stuff first.

I Think Roland has a new board comming out soon. If you go to www.keyboardshop.com and search a little, you'll find that they're selling roland ax-7's for around $300. They must be new, because i can't find them anywhere else. I guess it's the updated model of the ax-1.

Jan Hammer played a Lync Jan Hammer signiture edition. I have a Lync LN-1000(looks the same, but not as cool), but its dead(I tore the little mylar ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the main board). I wish I could find one for parts and make it play again. I kinda miss it.

This page has all the old ones on it.
