Just a demo I made with my new Fostex D-160 to learn how to use it.

It has cheesy drum machine and a cheap solid-state guitar amp that I threw in my closet to record (the only amp I had at home at the time). There also seems to be some mild popping in the lead vocal that was accentuated by the conversion to mp3.

But even with these things in mind, I'm pretty pleased with the song itself.

It's called "Dragging Your Anchor" and it's at:

Many thanks!

DAMN! I freakin' love it. Charles that was great, man.

Here's some input/ramblings: I dig the funky little riff... you know...

There are parts in there where you sound like Geddy Lee of Rush... alot... (not a bad thing, just an observation).

The only thing that I would like to see changed would be the panning of the crash cymbals.... To my ears, they are panned L/R too hard. My ears want the crash cymbals to bleed into each others channelsn a wee bit. I'm not saying not to pan them, just not so hard left and right.

FREAKIN' GREAT SONG.

Hey, Teddie!

>There are parts in there where you sound like Geddy Lee of Rush... alot.

I've heard this before, although I can't for the life of me hear it myself. I assume you mean the vocals?

For my part, I thought the bass sounded VERY much like the tone G.L. used to get on old Rush stuff. And that's not a bad thing at all (in my book anyway).

It certainly was a happy coincidence as I'm not sure I would have any idea how to get his bass sound if I was doing it on purpose.

Charles,

I was referring to the vox... although I went back and listened closer to the bass line. I think you're right...

I sent you an email yesterday from your mp3.com page... don't know if you got it.

Great tune CT. Enjoyed it a lot. Love the vocals. I envy the hell outta you & Teddie & MrLip (not trying to leave anyone out, those are just the most recent I have listened to) and all the other guys on this BBS who can sing, and sing well.

Very nice job on the overall production, too.

Brad, oh, go on...

no I mean, go on! :)

That doesn't work in type, does it? Visualize my joke... it's been done in many sit-coms.
