Bring Back Transfat!
I may be missing something really basic here, but if I'm the only one playing instruments in my studio, is there any point to walling off a separate section for a control room?

It helps alot if you are tracking other people and want to isolate your sources better.

Why, it's the fish that seems to have attained the rank of seargent! :D

Well, that's the point Fishmed, I'm kind of a one-man-show. I don't expect to ever be tracking anyone but me, so the functionality of a control room is a moot deal, right?

Being in a separate room kinda makes it hard to run the board.;)

If it is just you, then you don't need one.

Thanks guys. I will do a vocal booth just to minimize embarrasing myself when wailing at the top of my lungs! :D

I'll also figure out a way to isolate computer fans and other potentialy noisy stuff.

I have a seperate control room and main tracking (live) room. The bigger room is great if I'm recording others, but most of the time when I am recording myself or just one person I use the control room. Having more than one room is nice for drums or loud amps but for most stuff I stay in the control room.

You have great tips on this forum, I already learned a lot from you.
