so, i've only been recording for a few months, i've learned alot but there is TONS of stuff i still have questions about. been reamping on my mesa dual, build the drums in EZdrummer, then i turn the midi into actual audio tracks. at the moment, i've been stacking kicks (a total of 4 different ones), snares (total of 7different ones), stereo tom tracks (total of 3 different sets), overheads/room and high hats.... also, am i the ONLY one that thinks that the real DFH kit sounds fake as shit? i do use 1 kick from that bank, 3 snares and i layer the toms in the backgroud, but i honestly think that the pop/rock kit sounds WAY more real, so i make the bulk of my drums with that. of course, my bass is just line in and i put a knotch on it around 200, just sounds like it lets it all breathe a bit. sink the kicks around 50 (usually) and roll the highs off the distorted vocals to get rid of that hissy crap noise. i record in reaper and have purchased hs80m yamaha monitors (they help a TON) and for my interface, i just got a 2 channel art dual tube pre/usb... well, thats about it!!! oh!!!m one more thing, i put compression on my kicks, snares and toms on the individual tracks, vocals too, but i never compress my master track. i've tried and tried it, can't get it to sound clean. it pumps and smears my kicks and toms into a ball of undefined shit, and after talking to one of my local recording buddies, he said that there's nothing wrong with not compressing the master. that some do it and some don't. i love it when the drums "jump out" at you with every hit (grew up listening to slayer and such), so he advised i not compress the master.

Borat has a ridiculous stache, it’s out of control. Our friend Cap’n Crunch has a superior nautical stache. Dick Van Dyke, Gerald McRaney, Carlos Santana, don’t forget about “what about earl”…. don’t deny it, it’s a bad ass one too. Ted Turner, Ron Jeremy, Richard Pryor and Robert Goulet all had mustaches…. Coincidence?

also, i have started recording my guitars with no compression, seems to make them more defined..... but i track this like 2 months ago and was not so smart back then.... siiiigh. i actually tracked them with compression.... stupid move since i can't get rid of it now... hahahah whoops! well, live and learn.

This is SUPER muddy. The drums are pretty clear, but everything else is just an overwhelming amount of low-end.

You've also got some crackle on the guitars as if you're clipping your interface or mix.
