the better of two evil preamps

does anyone have experience with m-audio preamps vs. behringer preamps. i have a delta 1010lt and a behringer mx2442. i currently use the preamps from the mx and dont seem to have any problems with my recordings in general.

are the delta preamps any better? i would like to know your opinions before i open up the case and switch the jumpers on channel 1+2. i would hate to change the jumpers and then find out that they are the same in sound quality.(not that it is that much of a hassel).

what preamps offer the best bang for the buck, being on a budget means that i cant afford high end , but maybe middle of the road pre's are with in my grasp.

I use M-Audio DMP2 preamps, and i'm pretty sure they are better than most mixers preamps (at least any non-pro mixer for sure).

as far as the 1010lt's - no idea.

Don't listen to us, listen for yourself. I'ts best to record and mix a few tracks and see what pre you like on what source with what mic. Put some time into it and you will not only decide which pres you like, you will also learn a lot about the equipment you own.

somehow i knew that would be the responce and it makes perfect sence. i think the behringer pre's sound descent because thats all ive used. behringer doesnt exactly get glowing reviews here, so i am almost brainwashed into thinking that all of thier stuff is substandad equipment, and that anything is better.now i have 2 choices , the behringer pre's or the m-audio pre's. its seems like the m-audio outboard preamps get good comments, so i am wondering if thier on board pre's are of the same quality.

i record with all 8 audio inputs simulataneously, so 8 seperate pre's is a good chunck of change. even if the m-audios sound much better i would have to buy 6 more to record the same way i do now.

Logistically speaking, it would be tough for a PCI card to get the necessary juice to deliver sufficient clean gain for a mic. I wouldn't use it for anything critical. I could be wrong, but just don't know if I trust it. I say jump it!
