How are the preamps on these units? I read on TASCAM's website that they came out in '75 and listed for $1500 back then(not that that means anything). I have a chance to pickup one for about $200 and was wondering if it was worth my time since I was hoping to record some clean sounding stuff and also incorporate a DAW. I also read that it was a 8x4x4, therefore, no individual channel direct outs but "paired outs", right?
Any info pertaining to this board is welcome. Thanks

I don't think I'd give $200 for one. If it's what I think it is, it doesn't have XLR inputs. I could be wrong but I believe it has RCA ins and outs. Anybody else remember these?

I had one , of course it has XLR inputs. rca output ,channel send , and channel insets. Listed for 1950 in an old stereo cat. I have sound is ok. It is very heavy about 85 lbs.

I performed a search on ebay and was able to get a look at the back panel of a unit some seller had. It does have XRL inputs, but I couldn't tell what the outputs were. Are RCA outputs pretty typical on mixers of any given brand or model?
Thanks for the input thus far.
