we don't need rest!!
So... I had one of these puppies laid on me for gratis. The original 20 bit version. ..."wizard series".

I've tried selling it on Ebay and for some odd reason, the 'buy it now" ones listed for MORE are selling, and this hasn't as yet. People are paying up to $500 for these. I think they were around $2k when they first came out, and can only guess the new varieties are in the same ballpark.

So... seeing that these are selling, (and mine hasn't as yet) is it even worth hooking up? I know that it works, etc, but never delved into trying to actually use it on a compilation of mixes.

Therefore, to "easily" screw up a mix/cd, how would you rate it?
Any prof. mastering guys here ever use one (to offering some interesting, bashing type, remarks)? :laughings:

here some pics...

Had one when they first came out. Thought the converters were nice (for the time).

Eh, it was only as dangerous as the person using it. Sort of like Ozone...

Sold it a loooooong time ago.

I think the reason it is not selling for as much as the others is that it is the original series, where the 96k and express versions are the ones that might be going for a bit more money.

I did have one of these when they first came out and mainly used it for limiting. The tiny screen used to drive me crazy. I do believe you can do anything with a bwl, comp, and eq plug-in and get better results and save your eye site at the same time.

I still have the 24 bit version but haven't used it in a very long time. I don't really want to sell it as I feel I would be ripping someone off. It's basically a rack spacer.

Actually these 20 bit "the Wizard series" are going for 5 Cnotes... the 96K for twice that and the expresses for about what these 20 bit "original" ones are.

Hey Massive... don't you need "stereo rack spaces"? you NEED mine!

So then...let me ask this..
They were "valid" when they first came out? And equipment is much better nowadays that you'll "hear" the difference?

I do 80's rock anyway.... should be a "current" piece of equipment...or "ahead of the times" :) ???

Even during their time they were basically a swiss army knife for quick and dirty mastering. There are better options now for less cost.

Some mix engineers would use them to demonstrate what a mix would sound like when mastered. I used them mainly for a some radio broadcasts when I needed a bit more level.
