Hi there,

I am a guitar player and used to own an ART multi effects processor which I lost in a pawn shop a few years back. So anyways I was searching for a replacement to put in my rack and I was wondering if anyone has used the "G-Major" from TC Electronics and if you have any comments on how it performs at stage volume in live situations.

I was heaviliy into the "G-Major" for my last album and tour. All thos songs were in G-Major. Lately. I sold it because I am exploring E-Minor and the box just does not give me the sound I am looking for.

I bought one this summer, it sounds great, you have a ton of options, an excellent feature list. Played a coupe shows, no trouble. I did forget my MIDI pedal once, which was disasterous, because the master volume was at 0. I ended up just taking it out that night.

At practice one day, in the middle of playing, without me doing anything (no channel switching, bumping the amp or plug), it went silent. No response, lights worked, no sound. I powered it off and back on, and the sound came back, but it had lost all of my patches. It went home that night, and has not returned. I will not bring it on stage until that litle issue is resolved to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, the best things about this unit, the relays, the spillovers, the CC capabilities, all apply to live use, so I won't really get a lot of value out of it.

I've used the G Major in the past, and I can echo ermghoti's post that I too had reliability issues with this thing. It seems to suffer from being buggy. I think what it does is great, and sounds nice, but if you're using it live, be prepared for at least a little frustration when it freaks out on you.
