I know everybody likes getting something for nothing, but I am looking for a few good volunteers who might be willing to part with something in exchange for a tax deduction.

In addition to trying to put together a project studio for my home use, I'm trying to build a 24-track studio for my church. Here's my proposal:

I know there are probably lots of for-profit project studios that are in the throes of upgrading existing ADAT installations with hard-disk recorders to get the higher resolutions. Is there anyone out there that might consider donating their used equipment to an IRS approved charitable organization in exchange for a tax deduction? I am sure that we could arrange for a deduction statement that would be for at least fair market value, if not slightly higher.

Thanks for any consideration.

Dear DDev, praise the Lord! I am a religious person too, so you really and truly are the stupidest person I have ever come across on the internet, god bless you.

Why in the world did you mention that you have a home studio? Are you so out of it that people might think you might use " donated' equipment for personal use?

If indeed you have a Church or Temple, how bout posting your Tax Exempt Status? Anyone with a brain know's that this info is free to the public, so just give us the IRS code and maybe people will take you seriously. All non-profits have to give info to the IRS, but you think people will just send you gear and not question it?

People like you give religion a horrible name: you hide behind your religion and love to rip people off in the name of God. You havent even asked the forum any questions, except " give me free gear in the name of the Lord". Go buy your fucking gear yourself, idiot. Maybe GWBush can buy your gear with his Faith-Based Crap, but before that bill passes, maybe your Church can get back to praying about poor people instead of worrying about which mic is going to serve your needs.

Feed poor people, and if you do I will give you a mic for free, as long as it has a radar device on it that says it has never left the Church.

I appreciate your feedback. Call me naive or whatever, but I was not trying to pull one over on anybody. Just exploring the world to see whats out there. I really am trying to set up 2 studios, one for myself at home just to play with, and one for my church as a means to augment current ministries. If I could afford what I need for the church by myself, I'd be doing that.

I didn't post the church's tax exempt status because I figured that if I had any positive response to this that this information would be taken care of outside of this board. Sorry for setting you off, DavidK. I really have no intent to give anyone a bad name, and never intended to piss anyone off.

Yeah, our church has an awesome choir as well as dozens of different musical groups in as many different musical styles. In a couple of years we will have the ability to finance a studio, but I'm trying to find a way to begin recording as soon as I can. Hence my post....maybe there is someone who would bite at this, you never know if you don't ask. I promise no more requests for freebies. (And, by the way, Westlink Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas is actively involved in feeding the poor, providing housing to the homeless, and a thousand other social issues we call ministries; check us out if you're ever in town).

In the future I will limit my questions to technical stuff only, which as soon as I get my hands on a used ADAT I am sure I will have.

Great post DDev, sorry for being a bit rough on ya, I had a bad day yesterday, so pay no attention to my rants.

Best of luck to you and your church, I hope I didnt scare you away from this group, lots of great people around here, with such diverse backgrounds and musical differences.

Feel free to email me, I play at churches a lot, and I am sorry we got off to a bad start. Cheers, Dave

Thanks for the note Dave. Am looking forward to future learning opportunities.

May peace be your constant companion.
