Tascam msr16- advice for a complete novice

Hi,

i'm currently looking to buy a tascam msr16. I'm completely new to recording analog and would really appreciate advice ie, what other bits of kit will help me get going to record on it. Quirks to look out for etc.

I have picked up threads referring to synchronizers. Should i be asking the seller whether one is included?

I'm really serious about learning how to do this properly as the amount of money we've wasted going to expensive studios and not getting what we want has held us back so much. I'd really appreciate any info and advice

Post (and search) in the Analog Only forum. Also, you need to be more specific as to what you already have, and what your goals are? E.g., why 1/2" 16 track. What are you hoping to gain from tape, and do you need 4 8 16 24 tracks, can you afford 1" or 2" tape? Or is 1/2" a better media for you. Do you need to sync to a DAW/Sequencer?
