Hi, my M-3700 has been playing up over the last few months and now seems to have died. Every now and again while working normally it would give an auduble "thump", all the meters would jump and all input & output would cease with only the red VU peak lights lit suggesting a massive overload. It would give another "thump" and then start working again after a few hours. It doesn't seem to matter if it's been on all day or just for a few minutes. Appeared to be pretty random. It happened a few days ago and it's sitting in the same state now. Anyone got any ideas where to even start with this?

If the problem affects the whole board at once, as you describe, a good first place to look is the power supply. I assume that has an external rack mount unit. Make sure the plug is firmly connected to the board. Do you have a meter to check the voltages on the power supply unit?

I was going to ask if you needed the power supply schematics or do you have the manual?

Alan.

Hi, thanks for the replies guys. My thoughts were with the power supply too. I had the foresight of tracking down a manual with the schematics a few years ago so that's good. I'm not so confident with the electrical side of things but I know a man who fixes my amps etc who can help. Bit easier to take the power supply round to him than the desk! I'll keep you posted! Thanks again.
