John, That is exactly what happened with the board. To much bad PR about the DM-24. I am one who owned the board. I say owned because I sold it at a big time loss. I only owned it for 8 months. When I changed over to the latest version of the software the head room issue raised it's ugly head. I was so sorry I sold my old Yamaha 01V. I thought the board had a good sound as long as you didn't push it but the clipping I couldn't live with. When I saw the new site design I knew the bbs would be missing. Why would they want to pay for something that might be costing them sales? Now Tascam is giving away a meter bridge with a new DM-24. Guess why? Is Yamaha giving away a meter bridge with a new 02R96? No. Why? They don't need to. The board is worth the money. Wish I had the cash right now and I would buy one.

As usual, Reel has expressed out feelings very well. If we could just get an abridged version it could well serve as the epitaph for Tascam. R.I.P.

Aside: Texas lost some of it's early luster when Bush was elected.

Well, let's put it this way. If Tascambbs forums come back, I'll be the first and most surprised person here. More power to them, if they do, but I'm not holding my breath until then.

The board was a good resource, but in certain respects, it may have been a liability to Tascam. The world may never know.

Seeing as how some of us are giving a eulogy, I will offer mine too.

TASCAM's bbs was a great source of help for many people and it was a great place to meet like minded souls who loved the hobby.

I met and made many friends there.

Baring the second coming, it's now gone.

Most things in life have a beginning and an ending and so, we can't be completely surprised that this same fate befell that bbs too.

Dust to dust. Ashes to ashes.

The good news?

There is an after-life!

It's right here.

HR.COM has the potential to be everything that TASCAM's bbs was and so much more.

There are more topics and areas of discussion here.

There is a much broader talent pool of contributors.

This is a superior place and can be even better if we all come here to learn and help others with our own areas of expertize.

I will mourn no more.

Re: Okay you guys, with all this banter, I have to check it out for myself!

PS: I'll continue to recommend TASCAM gear, and that prospective buyers should go straight to EBAY, leap-frogging completely over TASCAM/TEAC, Inc., as [IMO] they have nothing to offer.
