I just purchased a Tascam BR-20T off of eBay, but it only came with one reel hub, so I can't fully test it at the moment.
My questions are:
-where can I find a suitable replacement hub? (checked eBay, but there weren't any specifically BR-20/T hubs)
-can I test the transport without the other hub? (currently when I press play nothing happens)
-are the VU meters supposed to be backlit? (they aren't on this one)

Thanks.

Polly analog, I too just purchased an e-bay BR20 not the time code unit. Funny enough it also had no lights on the meters.

They should be lit. axial 8v 200MA Part # 04-8000 Dynamic Technology Group But unless they are both burnt you may have the same problem as me and find the memory is bad. A $6.00 part.

It also had no hubs..Don't know what these people do with them! Sell them for more cash I guess. You can use, most any Tascam (and some others) NAB hub as long as it is for the 1/4" format. Be sure they also have the thin spacer on the back too.

To test, Hold both tape guides up (one on left one on right) push play and see if capstain turns. That will test the transport basically.
Good luck,

Ron

Bear in mind that the capstan is belt-driven and the belts are prone to rotting.

What you need is called a 1/4" NAB hub.

Alan.

Opps just saw that you said that LOL I am a year older this week
