I recently bought a TASCAM 8516 hubs and motors from a reputable Ebayer for my Tascam MS16, thinking that I was buying a pair of TASCAM TZ-65 clampers. Upon trying to fit them, I've noticed they're quite different and can't see how I could fit them to the MS16.
Some pics are here:

I can't see how these are going to fit my machine. I thought they were the same as TASCAM TZ-65 clampers:

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I now have had a chance to look at the MS-16. please watch the video I've made:

Hub table Tascam MS-16 - YouTube

The only way the clampers and hubs will fit is if the MS16's motors are removed and replaced by the 8516 motors. The shafts coming out of the motors are completely different sizes. I don't know if the motors could be swopped over without further modifications but it looks like I will have to return the hubs and motors. If I had access to some serious metal-working tools (lathe, drills, milling machine) then it may be possible to adapt the 8516 hubs to an MS16 but without them I don't see how one could expect to keep everything level and true.

can the aluminum (top) part of the hub be separated from the base ? (reel table) ? can you take a picture of the top of the 8516 reel table, so the idea is to detach the aluminum piece and attach it to the MS16 reel table somehow, so you keep the same reel table

Just thought I'd update this thread.

I had to send the reel table back as the motors on the two machines are completely different.

I am not surprised that this happened as there was a lot of time between the one machine and the other. They also like to change parts designs plenty. The whole issue could have been resolved by comparing part number in the manual. For the MS16 maybe some ATR60 reel tables would be more compatible.
