Tascam 688 recommendation?

Hey guys - got 2 of these now. Love 'em to death and plan to make a lot of recordings with them. Here's the problem - the manual blows and the machine, in general, is EXTREMELY cumbersome. I'd like to really master it but would prefer not to have to pound my head against anymore walls. Anyone know of any good resources online that walk through some of the features better than the manual?

Keep an eye out on ebay for a cassette called 'Tascam 688.Unlocking the midistudios'....I think thats what its called.
I saw one not too long ago.I think its an instructional style audio course on using these things.
