Hi,
I set up my Tascam 48 as poor man's "CLASP". If you google "TaDA: it's analog magic for your DAW" you know what I mean.
I got the machine last summer but haven't actually recorded anything with it yet since I´ve been pretty busy with actual recording(digital...). I tested the machine about 2 months ago with some used tape that came with it and everything worked ok.
So yesterday I just set it up like the link above to record some accordion. We started tracking but the sound from the tape had huge amount of flutter. The accordion sounded like it was tracked with a very fast tremolo...
Do you guys have an idea were I should start looking for the problem?
I've cleaned and demagnetized the tape path and everything seems to be running ok. I didn't have time yesterday to listen to other tapes if they play correctly but I thought I'd post a question so I have a starting point for troubleshooting.
I don't have a calibration tape for that machine yet.
I have a couple more reel to reel machines (Studer A80 2tr and Otari MX5050BII 2tr) so I'm not a total newbie to analog tape.
Thanks in advance!
Tomi
