I'm looking for a remote for my 388 and it seems the Tascam RC-71, Tascam RC-70, and Tascam RC-90 should work (even with the RC-90's extra rec mute button).
Is this correct?
Do all these remotes acknowledge the CUE and load function when reverse is pressed?
Thanks.

p.s. Any others that might work?

Yes

I believe that's my listing for the RC-90. I have a couple I'm trying to sell. REC MUTE button is not used on the 30 series, 388, etc., but otherwise it is the same in function to the RC-71.

The Cue and Load function on the 388 are a function of the main control section, not the remote. The remote is simply an extension of the basic transport buttons.

:spank::eek:;)

So does that mean if I manually set the CUE, then go do some recording, then hit REWIND on the remote it will go back to the CUE point, or no?
p.s. I think I just emailed you on craigslist. ha!

Not exactly,...

Pressing REWIND at any time will either rewind all tape to the left and off the spool, or rewind to the point where the LOAD function will stop it before unspooling, if you've used the LOAD function.

Setting CUE is just a memory register. Pressing STC (seek to cue) will wind in either direction to that memory location.

Pressing the CHECK button displays the value in the CUE register.

If REPEAT is pressed, the tape will cycle between RW @ CUE and PLAY @ ZERO, in a replay loop.

Pressing RTZ (return to zero) will wind the tape in either direction and stop at a preset Zero point.

All of those functions are independent of the remote.

The AQ-65 will do all the things you want-but they are difficult to find.

I picked up a Tascam RC-71 on ebay.
I hope the strain relief is in decent shape.

The RC-71 I got was totally missing the strain relief insert. I found a suitable replacement at a local electronics shop. Had to get a pack of 'em. If you end up needing something like that PM me and I can send you one.

Ended up selling that one with my 388 a couple years ago, but prior to that picked up another RC-71 that was in even better condition for $30 locally...it included a good condition fully functional Tascam 234 as a bonus.

:spank:

!! Awesome.

So I just got the Tascam RC-71 remote in the mail and....it is completely missing the strain relief insert. (See pictures).
Just holding the thing and it feels like the cables are about to rip out// I looked back at the ebay pics from the seller and now I see that in every shot the strain relief insert is conveniently hidden in the shadows or angled out of view. HA!
sweetbeats: I sure could use that the strain relief insert if that's still okay. (I tried to PM you but it's doesn't seem to work) 1.webp2.webp3.webp
