Oh yea and BECK your right... if you can't make a good recording with a Tascam or a Fostex then your not going to do it with a Studer or Otari. Very true words. You have to walk before you run and the lessons learned and the experience gained using a Tascam or Fostex will make you educated enough to be able to "learn" what a good recording is.

They definitely get my vote for the coolest-looking cassette 4-track out there. Hopefully one day I'll own one; until then, I'm getting some good use out of my 424 MK III.

Sometimes...

you'll find a mint or near mint well kept 246 that doesn't need rubber or any maintenance at all. Uncommon, yes, but not as much like chasing unicorns.

does anyone know where I can get a manual for a 246, a download would be the best
