Tascam 246 problem

I just got a tascam 246 and i'm having a problem with it. Everything powers up and works, it fast forwards and rewinds, but when i go to record or play it doesn't do either. So I opened it up to check it out and one of the belts (the bigger belt)has slipped off the big motor and the pulley. Could this be the problem? Anybody have any ideas where i could find a new belt? Hardware Store? Or is this a part i'll have to get from tascam or a tascam service center type of thing?

Also you might go to this thread and read what Reel person has to say about belts he has a link there for a place that sells belts. If you can come up with the correct size they may be able to save you some money.

Tascam has the belts in stock. I bought the belts and a pinch-roller over a year ago. It's a little tedious but you can do it.

I recommend you start with top of the 246 facing down on a pillow, so it won't get scratched. You have to remove the screws and separate the top and bottom half.
