Hey guys,

I was wondering if any knows who will repair the 238 these days. I have one where the transport is running at warp speed when in play mode. I bought it new many years ago and did some fun recording on that thing.

Any help is appreciated.

Where r u located? Your best bet is to go here (to find a local TASCAM service centre): http://www.tascam.com/service.php?que=go;33,2025&type=html

Alternatively, you can send the recorder to TASCAM MONTEBELLO (in California) and they'll restore it. If you opt to have it shipped, make sure it's packed properly and can withstand repeated drops from 6 feet up and a toss down a flight of stairs. (No joke:eek:).

You've got to be kidding me? There must be a story behind that!

I live in Tennessee. I'll try the link you gave.

And thanks,

Yes, many horror stories of bigger / heavier electronics arriving damaged, due to bad packing. Many peaple think that the postal system is setup to care and baby your packages but this is not so. Every single minute of every day, packages fall off conveyor belts and are dropped, never mind if they're fragile or not. I'd call it an epidemic. I'd bet that if you randomly bought stuff off eBay, something like a heavy tape deck or mixer, it'd get damaged to some extent, half of the time (at least). Sellers just don't have a clue. That's why I restrict my eBay purchases to things which can't get damaged no matter how badly packed.
