Hi all!
I'm a newbie at this forum, but I've read most of posts from beginning to end of the Analog Only section, it's a great forum!

I've got Tascam 122 mkIII which haven't been used much, as I was told when I bought it. I had it demagnetized and cleaned, but what I get is very little clipping on the left channel, the right one is perfect. That happens mostly with chrome masters I have, which are recorded pretty loud (especially the mids), but I always get clips at high peaks on the same channel, no matter, if I turn the volume down, I've tried different cassettes...And it's not so bad, but it's just there! And when I try transfering the masters to my computer all I'm left with is using some De-clicker on that channel.
So, my guess - it's the heads problem? Might it be something else though? Maybe this left channel is set louder than the right one somewhere...Can that be fixed?

I've used the 122mkII and its a nice deck, the mk III should be nicer.

If the tapes play ok on another deck and the distortion is always on the same channel I'm guessing that either the playback alignment on that channel is way out or we're looking at a faulty component in the playback amp.

Do you get the clipping if you just run a signal through the machine with the monitor set to input? If so its a problem in the monitor section otherwise its definately in the playback section.

It might need a trip to a tech I'm afraid.

Thanks, arjoll!
It's in the playback section... there's no clipping when set to source input. I'll go and read the link you gave me :)

Hi

I have a Tascam MarkIII. But the mode gear is not working.

Can anyone tell me where can I get it?

Looking forward your earliest reply.
