Functionally obsessed.
Someone is selling TASCAM RM300 rack rail kits on eBay for $80/pair. Two issues:

1) I seriously doubt they're genuine TASCAM
2) $80 seems like an inordinate amount for two L-shaped pieces of metal.

I need two pairs, and $160 plus shipping seems a bit much. Is there any other way, or do I have to pony up the cash and just take my lumps?

I just laid out a ton of money for racks and rack accessories and I'd like to stop the bleeding... penny wise, pound foolish, I suppose.

Yeah, I have a hard time stomaching the expense for rack ears...

I've lucked out in that the 48 parts deck I used to have came with them and I got the deck on the cheap and they work for both the 48 and the 58. Something to consider, though it doesn't help your space needs right now but if you plan on keeping those 34's for a long time you might want to have a parts deck and see if you can find one with ears on it, or wait for a set of GC used ears to come along. I feel your pain.

The genuine items are nice as they are a fairly thick aluminum stock, but I agree that $80 for a pair of simple non-mechanical non-electrical parts is sick...but we do like our gear racked...

I'll keep my eyes out.

Yeah! Thanks! I just bid on them. I should add a RSS feed bookmark to my browser for 'tascam rack rail', or something like that, to keep an eye out.

Hey Lo. Fi, a friend and I am thinking about finding specs on rack ears for R2R's and DBX ETC if something comes about it do you think you would be interested? He's a certified welder and is willing to help if there's enough need. I've Pm'd a few guys to ask their opinions and help with specs and things. PM me if you would be interested. Thanks.
