I'm trying to see if I have done everything I can before having my blackface ADAT sent out for service.
My machine just started eating tapes every 4th or 5th time the tape gets engaged, sometimes even when loading a fresh tape. I took off the cover and played with the controls to see what was happening. It appears that the motor that drives the infeed spool continues to feed tape even after a STOP is commanded, but the outtake motor stops like it should (I hope this makes sense). The STOP light is ON but the tape counter is still running. Anyway, this causes the tape to continue to feed in unless the STOP button is selected a second time.
I've ordered some new idler wheels on the off chance that this might be the problem, but didn't know if there might be something else I could look for or try.
Unfortunately, there is nobody here in Wichita that will service this thing, and I hate the thought of sending it out for a megabuck repair since I didn't pay that much for it in the first place (it has been working fine for some time up until this week).
Any ideas would be welcome.
