Not having done a side by side comparison in the same listening environment, I can only tell you that a friend of mine has some Tannoy Reveals in his studio and they sound excellent.

I HAVE done a side-by side comparison, and the Spirit Absolute 2 are ONLY better than Spirit Absolute 0's and Alesis Monitor Ones... that says alot! Asbolute 2's REALLY SUCK! They have a nasty ringing midrange (probably due a badly chosen cross-over), they lack punch in the low end, and the highs are relatively shrill... If you've never worked with another monitor, they might work... otherwise go for M-Audio, Tannoy or Event... Hell, even the Behringer Truths are WAY better than Absolute 2's...

Best buy for low price: M-Audio BX8 ($479 pair, active)
Best buy for medium price: Event 20/20bas) $900 pair, active)
then after that you gotta look at Mackie, Blue Sky, ADAM's and Dynaudio's...

I can recommend the Reveal Actives. They are quite expensive the US, but were darn cheap in Sweden. I would suspect that they are quite cheap in the UK too, as they are made there. And if that is the case, they are well worth it.

...Ive got the reveal passives, and have been quite happy w/ them. ...good luck:)
