i was wondering, if a mixer doesnt have a talkback button how would you go about setting up a talkback system. thanks

Just set up a mike....

Just set up a mike in the control room and a speaker in the Isolation booth.

You will be able to hear the artist through the mike that you are using to record with.

PS....

DONT FORGET TO SWITCH OFF THE MIKE WHEN RECORDING!

Or you will get bleed from your monitors.

Dom:eek:

Another Way

The way I do it is I put a mic in an open mixer channel and only run it through the monitor(aux) send I am using to run the headphone mix.

My console has a talk back system built in but tmix has it right if you're not equiped with one.

This one always makes singers and engineers go bananas.....

pfl the singers headphonemix on your monitors and press the talkback button.

PPPPPPIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Been there, done that....

I usually set up a condensormic on a high boomstand in the recording studio in front of the controlroom's window. If someone tries to speak to you they will tend to look at you so that's why I set it up near the window. They'll be facing me and the mic. A omni mic in the midle of the room will do also. I route it to a spare channel on the mix, and whenever a musician wants to speak with me a level up that channel. I talk back through the haedphones of sometimes through the speakers in the recording room. Offcourse when a singer is recording I use his vocal mic, but for other musicians a have a talkback mic standing in the room.
