OK, so I finally put a song on MP3.com. I recorded it with SM-57's into my Mackie 1604 into n-track. I have since re-done some parts and I know my vocal stinks. That I can't help. But please let me know what you think about the rest.
PS I know I'm not that good yet, this is my first song I got finished, and it's really not finished, just posted out there.
Thanks alot everyone!

It's called 'Run Away' WARNING: we are a Christian group, please dont flame me about that :)

H2H,
Don't sell yourself short on your voice, it is quite nice, if you are not confident of your ability - sing more and find strength. Nice tune - the vocals are on top and words
clear and audible. Keep it up! Strong lower vocal harmonies (below melody) would be interesting.

Also noticing a high feedback ring in the mix, like a mike right on the verge. You may want to individually check the tracks you used the 57 to narrow down the squeal.

Hi h2h,

I am wanting to hear what this will sound like when it is finally finished. I will probably add it to my list of homerecording music that I would buy if I saw it in the store.

I really like the song, and that took my concentration off the recording itself.

I think it could be a bit faster without losing the feel-- maybe 2-3 bpms faster.

ANd, your vocals are very good, IMHO

btw, my list now is:

Secret heart ---recorded by Sonusman(www.echostarstudio.com)
Heat of it all---ShakestheClown (www.offtherow.com)
Run Away--- Hard2Hear (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/181/collera.html)

Other opinions upon listening again:

I had to turn the volume all the way up

thanks so much for the input so far!
working on those things. I have re-recorded the vocals and acoustic guitar (last night) with my new AT 4033 inplace of the SM-57. It really helps out!

Really liked the song. Very nicely done...I'll listen a few more times today while here at work.

Thanks for sharing it...

Liked the tune!

Some things I noticed... IMHO.

1. You might want to split the acoustic guitar to a stereo mix and put about a 12-18ms delay between the sides. This will fatten up the guitar and give some seperation. It gets a little lost. The tune almost sounds like mono.

2. Vocals are nice.

3. Little more high end on the drums / cymbals?

4. Little more thump in the kick?

5. Bass sounds pretty good.

Very nice tune.

It's a little Hard2Hear. Like CJ, I had to turn it way up. The background vocals and guitar fill-ins were particularly faint. Some compression, perhaps.

Most people are overly critical of their own voices. Yours is good; sing out.

The musicianship is pretty good. Maybe the rhythm section could drive the beat a little more.

The song itself has a nice mood to it.

There is some echo to the vocal; can you treat the room?

hi hard2hear,

how did the rerecording of this song come out. I was listening to it again, and it is STILL one of my favorites.

I must say I love the harmony on the chorus. And I like the hook of this song.

peace
