Insane Genious!
Currently I have two things that can sync to tape, an TR-909 drum machine, and an external midi-port that has SMPTE sync.
The SMPTE sync seems to work like a charm, but I think it outputs MTC, and I have no devices that understand that. They are all cheap thingies that only can sync to MIDI Clock.
I think the TR-909 actually outputs MIDI clock when syncing to tape, but although I ove my TR-909, its HUGE and I rarely use it. Having that beast only to sync to tape seems, well, silly.
So, is there some free or cheap PC software that can take MTC and output MIDI Clock instead? If not are there any cheap HW devices out there that either do this, or even better, have their own SMPTE sync?
