synchronisation question

I know that fostex d-80s and d-90's can be synchronised with a midi cable to make a 16 track recorder, but can a D-80 be synchronised with a D-90 or does it have to be the same model?

you will need an adat fiber-optic cable also.. but remember you will not have 16 tracks.. one a a dummy track so it will leave you with only 15. I have a d90 sync with my D824s.. you will be fine..

ahh well 15 is more than enough to record what I need, thanks. Now I just need to find a couple for sale

It may be easier/cheaper to find a used D160 .........16 trks, no need for synching, etc.
