SYNC problem on bounce :[

Heres what I've done so far:

1 Rhythm guitar
2 Ld guitar
3 drums
4 BOUNCE #1

1 Bass
2 strings
3 BOUNCE #2 (problem)
4 BOUNCE #1

Ok so the problem is when I try and bounce tracks 1 and 2
to track 3, track 1 is not in sync with tracks 2 and 4.
Why is this?

I fiddled around for about 15 mins and got pissed off so what do you think is the problem. Im sure im not using the mixer correctly.
What I did was pan tracks 1 and 2 to track 3. Clicked the button that says 3-4 and the signal was great. Everything recorded but when I hit play the bass is out of sync with everything else. Whats strange is the strings are in sync but the bass is not. See what im trying to do is combine the bass and string tracks to track 3. So when I play track 3 along with track 4 (rhythm) inside track 3 the bass gets out of sync with everything.
 
sorry to say this but your post is extremely vague. also, how do you pan tracks 1,2 tor track 3. im just curious. :drunk:

I need to bounce
the bass and strings together on track 3.
But when I try to the bass is out of SYNC with everything else.
So I need to know how to correctly do this on a TASCAM M208 mixer with
a TEAC A3340s. I have everything hooked up correctly.
 
Seems your not reading/getting some of the posts from the other thread.

Bounce from machine 1 to 2...then bounce back from machine 2 to 1...then again from machine 1 to 2....etc...back-n-forth, mixing down as you go.
 
Yes you can bounce on the same machine, read the manual, every one is slightly different on the bounce down. I've done bouncing on a 22-4 without a problem. If it's not a multi-tracker, then you need a sound on sound echo adaptor.
 
Im familiar with bouncing but when I do it on the 2nd bounce the 1st rack gets out of sync with everything else

What sucks with that is the recording head has to playback AND record in order for everything to be in sync.
The playback head sounds better for playback.

miroslav the problem is I already bounced the 1st tracks to track 4.

I have this on tape as of right now

Start over. :)

Your real problem is that you have both guitars and drums all on one track.
That's going to be a bitch to mix...because where ever you place one, the other two will follow. You have no L/R separation.

You should be bouncing to a stereo pair...like I showed you....and then keep mixing/adding to the stereo pair with each bounce.

The problem is at your deck...not the mixer.
Check you sync switches.

You're still going to have a hell of a time mixing it the way you are doing it...but go ahead...I guess we'll come back to what I'm telling you when you get to the mixing stage. :)

What are you doing with the other deck if you're bouncing it all on one???
 
I haven't touched one of those 4-tracks in 30 years...but you have to put the tracks in sync...so if it's not working with NORMAL...then try it with SYNC.
Just don't arm track 4 to record, otherwise you will erase it.

Do you have a manual?
Maybe someone with a 3340 will chime in.
 
ok well i got to bounce it in sync. But the quality is REALLY REALLY bad. If I do a stereo bounce like what you suggested would the quality be a bit better?
 
I'm having a hard time following what's going on but when you record your first track you record it in the normal position. It should be no different when bouncing. When you record your second track that first track should be in simulsync for them to sync up. The same would go for a stereo mix. The first two tracks recorded in normal mode then switched to simulsync to overdub on the 3rd track. There shouldn't be a problem with anything syncing up.
 
You have to bounce track 4 to track 3 when you are bouncing tracks 1 and 2 to track 3. All tracks on the machine have to go to the same place to stay in sync. And you cant use the sync mode when doing this cause it will sound like shit.
 
I really do wonder if might be better off with an 8-track machine.
 
That's pretty much a 'no-brainer' if you are recording more than four tracks.

However, many of us started just like you are with the exception of the deck possibly being a Portastudio and using a stereo cassette deck to bounce to and from.

Face it, you've already outgrown your four-track. Time to move up.
