I am having a sync problem betwen an M20 and a 16bit XT. I want to add some new tracks to an old project recorded on the XT(16 bit @48k). All 8 tracks are full on the XT so I want to add some new tracks on the M20. I hooked up a sync cable from the M20 out to the XT in. The problem is the XT runs slow. What do I have to do to get the XT to run at the proper speed. A second problem I am also having is, if I try to record to both decks at once the XT starts a few seconds after the M20. Thanks in advance for any help I may receive.

sync M20 to XT

I'm no adat expert, but....

All tapes used must be of the same format. If the source tape is 16/48, the 2nd machine's tape format must be 16/48.
Confirm that all machines are set in hardware to record/playback at 16/48. If you record/play a tape formatted at 16/48 in a machine set at 16/44.1, it will play back flat in pitch or slower in speed. If you successfully use 16/44.1 formatted tapes in a machine hardware set at 16/48, the tape will probably play back flat in pitch or slower in speed as well.
If the XT is sync'ing up slowly to the M20 or takes longer to reach the same point on the tape, that's normal. Allow for more time for the machines to sync and lock before recording.

Hope this helps...

That's exactly right.... all the machines must be using the same playbook, otherwise the players don't know where to go!
