I just restrung a couple of my guitars that have floyd rose (licensed) bridges. One of them, a Jackson DINKY with a double locker, doesn't have the sustain that it had after the last time I changed the strings, especially with harmonics. They just kind of fade out after a second. I am no guitar tech, but I have been playing for 15 years or so, and I have had this happen before when strings go dead, but what causes this with new strings? Bad strings? Bad 'connection' or contact at the lockers? Any ideas/insight into this problem would be appreciated...

is it when you use the trem or just when you play a note?

lighter string gauge --> neck bends towards player --> strings to close to frets ??

lighter string gauge --> floyd sinks a bit --> strings to close to frets or to pickup ??

just ideas.

Bad strings, or placebo effect, or something entirely unrelated occured while you were changing strings. If the strings are seated properly in the slots at the nut and the bridge (and it's almost impossible that they aren't), there's nothing that can go wrong. This is the inherent strength of the FR-styled systems.
